He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Lundin Gustafson; his son John Gustafson; his grandson Nathan Gustafson; and his son-in-law Jim Wittig. He is survived by: his children, Bill Gustafson (Cindy) of Superior, WI, Mary Serama of Green Bay, WI, Alice Wilhelm (Tom) of Laramie, WY and Kathie Wittig of Cottage Grove, MN; his daughter-in-law Jeannie Relford-Gustafson of Birmingham, AL.; his granddaughters, Kali Collins, Abbigail McNamara, Amanda Monahan and Kathleen Wilhelm; and his friend Naomi Ropiak. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

He was a good man and was greatly appreciated. Because he gave me an opportunity to attend Northern, I was inducted into NMU's Sports Hall of Fame, Sept. 23, 2022.
