He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Cornwell and Catherine Cornwell (Kemp); his former wife Janet Dusellier; and his brother Billy. He is survived by: his wife Sherry L. Johnston; his daughters, Catherine Jones (Justin), Susan Cornwell and Elizabeth Brandt (Ben); his stepdaughter Nicole Koleczko (Mitch); and his sisters, Barbra Beach (Tim) and Norma Welch (Carl). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
