He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton Welte and Mary Welte (Riley). He is survived by: his wife Kay Anne Barlage; his grandchildren, Rick Welte (Crystie), Brenden, Owen, Addisen, Wynn, Dean Welte (Suzanne), Hannah Ebe (Ian), Cameron, Dirk Welte (Marla), Katee, Jack, Jonathon Elliott, Brody Welte (Jessica), Jonah, Asher and Phinneas; his great grandchildren, Kaydence Bachi and Thomas Ebe; his brothers, James Welte (Carole) and George Welte (Krista); and his siblings-in-law, Sue Smith and Ron Barlage (Tuki). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to The Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
