He was predeceased by: his parents, Coger McClain and Katherine McClain (Kidd); his son Lewis McClain Jr.; his grandson Logan Turner; and his sister Frances Egan.
He is survived by: his wife Pam McClain (Poor); his daughters, Tamela Sabin (George), Sharon Moore (Christopher) and Corrinda McClain (Joe Feldhouse); his siblings, Leland McClain, David McClain, James McClain (Cindy), Rosan Polk and Sharon Cole; his grandchildren, Gary Sabin (Amanda), Sean Sabin, Jason Moore (Elizabeth), Brandon Moore-Turnage (Joseph), Jonathan Moore, Gabriel Toman, Bryce Toman (Bobbi), Breann Turner and Blake Geer; and his great grandchildren, Margot Moore-Turnage and Zayden Sabin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with other friends and family.
