He was predeceased by: his wife Angela E. Steffes (Zerfas); his son Anthony Steffes; his son-in-law John VanDenBrink; and his siblings, Leona Rodanheisler, Reynold Steffes, Aletha Alberta and Bernadine Mauchmar.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Armock (David), Michael Steffes (Rhonda), Mary VanDenBrink, Eloise Carew (Steven), Lois Lothschutz (Joseph), Stephen Steffes (Theresa), Christopher Steffes (Shannon), Gregory Steffes (Andrea), Margaret Murphy (Douglas), Mark Steffes (Sally), Merlin Steffes Jr. and Matthew Steffes (Barbara); his daughter-in-law Connie Heimendinger (Tim); and his brother-in-law Carl Zerfas. He is also survived by 58 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren.
