She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Walt and Caroline Walt (Hendricks); her brothers, Warren Walt (Nellie), Gerald Walt (Nina) and Marvin Walt; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Jo Smoes (VanderKolk).
She is survived by: her husband Norman Jay Smoes; her children, Dale Smoes (Jane), Carol Derks (James), Donna Yager (Gerald) and Peter Smoes (Heather); and her sister-in-law Ruthann Walt (Longnecker). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
