James had a strong faith in the Lord, a love for life and for family. After high school he was drafted and served our country in the US Army, stationed for two years in Germany until being honorably discharged. He returned to make Southwest Michigan his home and in 1957, married the love of his life Mattie "Doris" Fuller. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage! He was musically gifted and enjoyed playing the guitar at nursing homes and family gatherings. He was a member of Trinity Baptists Church since 1993 where he served as a deacon and financial secretary for many years. His handshake and smile will be missed at church on Sunday mornings. Above all James loved his family and was a dedicated husband, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all who loved him. James is survived by his loving wife Doris; two sisters, Shirley Sparks and Linda (Roger) Couch; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
