He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Thomas and Carolyn J. Marek; his stepfather Robert J. Marek; his parents-in-law, Theresa and Edward Brechting; his siblings, Robert Marek Jr., David Marek, Randy Thomas and Vicky Bennett; his siblings-in-law, John "Jack" Brechting, Edward Brechting, Jr. and Sharon Marek; his aunts and uncles, Mickey Taylor, Lois Taylor, Myrna Taylor, Helen Thorpe (James) and Shirley Guy (Homer); his niece Tammy Marek Venlet; and his nephews, Jeremy Brechting and Jamie Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Regina; his children, Rick Jr. (Joanie), Leeanne Schmidt (Jason), Trevor Thomas and Tracy Thomas; his grandchildren, Luci, Jay, Jacob, Benjamin and Jordan; his brother Rob Thomas (Cheryl); and his siblings-in-law, James Brechting and Rose Marie Miller (Kenneth). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 PM. A prayer was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM at the Throop Funeral Home (214 Church St, Coopersville, MI 49404). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1200 Alpine Church Rd NW, Comstock Park, MI 49321).
Richard was a devoted servant to his faith, family, and country, living a life marked by charity, love, and patriotism.
