He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Schmidt and Helen Schmidt (Polzin). He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his children, Michael Schmidt (Kayleigh), Mary Estill (Howard), Teresa Whalen and Susan Deters (Dan); his grandchildren, Michael Schmidt, Emmalee Schmidt, Howard Estill, Jr. and Cutler Schmidt; and his great grandchild Lorelai Schmidt.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 4th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, October 4th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (224 Carrier St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505).
