He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Gates and Eloise Holben Sr. (Hill); and his sister Pat Timm. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Christopher Holben (Cheryl) of Sacramento, Julie Butler (Scott) of Silver Spring and Kelle Hinspeter (Joe) of Homer; and his stepchildren, Eric Dean (Chris) of Grand Ledge and Morgan Longstreet (Casey) of Coldwater. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren.
