He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Downey and Priscilla Downey (Haynes); and his brother Richard Downey. He is survived by: his wife Dena Downey; his children, Vicki Bassage and John Downey Jr.; his sister Elaine Joyce Otis; and his sister-in-law Jean Downey. He is also survived by his 3 grandsons; 6 great grandchildren and his many loving nieces and nephews.
