He was predeceased by: his parents, C. Gerald Brodt and Pearl Brodt (Fredrickson); his in-laws, Carl and Chrystal Hillborg; and his sisters, Pauline Mary Smoker and Anna Jane Fate.

He is survived by: his uncle Max Brodt; his son Gerald E. Brodt (Laura) of Coldwater; his wife Alice E. Hillborg; his children, Rebecca Stankewicz (Bernie) of Coldwater, Rachelle Clemens (Mark) of Coldwater, Renee Welke (Michael) of Coldwater and Robinette Ginter (Robert) of Tecumseh; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rochford, Aaron Stankewicz (Nicky), Corey Dow (Elizabeth), Allison Clemens, Adam Clemens (Hannah), Alexis Clemens, Mariah Welke, Makyle Welke (Natalie), Malina Welke, Maryelle Brodt, Matthew Ginter (Camryn), Kira Ginter and Andrew Ginter; his great grandchildren, Leah, Anthony, Ella, Grady, Madeline, Arthur, Wrenn, Rylie, Mika and Theo; and his pet Molly.
