She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Chatfield and Mary Chatfield (Latta); her husband Francis A. "Frank" Ernst; her sons, Francis "Skip" Ernst, Jr. and David Ernst; and her brothers, Kenneth, Carl and DeWayne Chatfield.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Ernst (Susan) of Adrian, MI, Richard Ernst (Debbie) of Angola, IN, Debra Roberts (John) of Wakefield, MI and Mary Kuipers (Corwyn) of Grand Rapids, MI; and her daughter-in-law Karen Ernst of Addison, MI. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and her many loving nieces and nephews.
