He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Zabel and Eleanor Zabel (Quail); his wife Anna Zabel; his nephew Matthew Zabel; and his stepmother Elisabeth Zabel.
He is survived by: his brothers, Gary Zabel (Barbara) and Lars "Skip" Zabel (Barbara); and his nephews, Michael Zabel (Holly) and Paul Zabel (Lorna).
