She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel Shafer and Carrie Shafer (Wales); her husband Donald Purkey; her grandparents, Garnett, Neva Shafer (Harris), Ora and Sarah Wales (Schultz); and her brother Jerry Shafer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debbie Lawson (Jim) of Tecumseh, Donna Gallant (Thomas) of Santa Barbara, Pamela Litchford (Bruce) of Saline and Betsy Hortenberry of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her grandchildren, Heather Heers (Ken) of Tecumseh, Courtney Lawson of Minneapolis, Thomas Litchford (Danielle) of Arnold, Katherine Litchford of Saline, Megan, Brad Lewis (Danielle) of Fort Wayne and Tate Lawson (Sam) of Charleston; and her great grandchildren, Hannah Heers, Kyle Heers, Tristan Lewis, Sean Litchford, Dominic Lewis, Olivia Keteyian, James Keteyian, Lydia Lewis, Jaydon Lewis, Analida Lewis and Carolyn Lewis.
