He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Patton and Lucy Patton (Blankenship); his siblings, Princess Patton, D. L. Patton and Charlie Patton; and his son-in-law Mark Knoblauch.

He is survived by: his wife Katherine; his brothers, Newt and Jack; his daughters, Kathie Knoblauch (Ken Cole) and Sheila Thompson (Douglas Ruttkofsky); and his grandchildren, Heidi Roberts (Ricky), Jaime Mooney (Brandy) and James Knoblauch. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
