He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Gerard and Ada Gerard (Chadwick); his children, Caryl Ziebell and Joseph Gerard; and his grandchild Richie Gerard.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Tim Gerard (Lori), Richard Gerard, Patricia Sullivan, Phil Sullivan (Thania), Cynthia Farnquist (Jeff) and Don Gerard (Carla); and his son-in-law Bob Ziebell. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
