He was predeceased by: his parents, David and Emma. He is survived by: his spouse Kris; his sons, Chad Auten (Teresa) and Andy Auten (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Wyatt and Lucy; his siblings, Anita Walter (Bill), Dan Auten (Jill) and Mike Auten (Cheryl); his father-in-law Jim McCammon (late Gerry); and his siblings-in-law, Jill Larive (late Bart), Dani Meyers (Joel) and Nikki Hellner (Rob). He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House.
