He was predeceased by: his wife Maria "Micki"; his son Mike; his granddaughter Maria Wells; his parents, Lowell Wells and Beatrice Wells; and his siblings, Florence Finkle, Ann Wells and Jessie Burt.

He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Wells (Arlean), Greg Wells (LeAnn), Sandy Johnson (Benny) and Joel Wells; and his brothers, Lowell Wells Jr. (Betty) and Jim Wells. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
