She was predeceased by: her parents, Bertrand Maxwell and Mildred Maxwell (Eidt); her spouse Swanson Shields; and her brothers, Bertrand "Clare" and Neil Maxwell.

She is survived by: her daughter Mary Ann Shurlow (E. C.) of Clare; her grandson Brian David (Jenny); her stepson David Shields (Karin) of New York; her stepgrandchildren, Allison, Michael, Jennifer, James Shurlow of Clare and Charles Shurlow (Krista) of Beavercreek; and her nieces and nephews, Cathy, Jeff, David, John and Lisa.

Memorials may be made to the Clare United Methodist Church or to the Clare County Animal Shelter.
