He is survived by: his mother Marilyn E. Johnson (Smith); his close friend Brandi; his friends, James of Stockbridge and Darren of Stockbridge; and his aunts and uncles, Janice Dickie (Eric) of Arizona, Carolyn Tatar (Jerry) of Rives Junction, Debbie Davis (Hank), Carolina, Don Smith of Ypsilanti, Mark Johnson (Kitty) of Tennessee and Becky Duncan of Jackson.

Matthew will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery with a private graveside service.Memorial contributions may be made to SAESA or the Arbor Hospice Foundation.
