She was predeceased by: her parents, Irving Johnson and Dora Johnson (Barber); her spouse Francis W. "Peanut" Gainor; her brothers, Wally, Ed, Arthur, Bruce and Arnold; and her brothers-in-law, Michael and Arnold.

She is survived by: her daughters, Kris Kwiatkowski (Keith) of Cheboygan, Julie LaHaie (Gary) of Cheboygan and Francine Hamby (Ken); her siblings, Mary O'Connor of Cheboygan, Shirley Chipman of Augusta, GA, Jim Johnson (Pat) of Gwinn, Lance Johnson (Marcella) of Cheboygan and Erling Johnson (Carol) of Cheboygan; and her sisters-in-law, Gloria, Debbie and Mary. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be directed to the Cheboygan Public Library or the Cheboygan Hospice House.
