He was predeceased by: his parents, Erick Hakanen and Lillian Hakanen (Peterson); and his siblings, Alice Haapala (Art), Edwin (Alice) and Wally Hakanen.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Knaus of Traunik; his sons, Mike (Tina), Gary, Larry (Dolly) and Jeff; and his grandchildren, Ericka, Cody, Diane, Nikki, Max, Maranda and Sydney. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and four grand dogs.
