Joan M. Leinonen Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan M. Leinonen of Chassell, Michigan, who passed away on January 22, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Niemi and Olga Niemi (Karna); her husband George E. Leinonen of Otter Lake; and her siblings, Harry Niemi and Beverly Hietala.
She is survived by: her children, Glenn (Sue Berryman) of Chassell, Ann Roth (Mark) of Chassell, Sue Hietala (Brian) of Chassell and Becky Blom (Marc) of Marquette; her grandchildren, Nikki Smith (Cody), Jessica Payment (Matt), Lauren Hodges (Griffen), Kaitlyn Michaels (Ross), Matthew Hietala and Ashlee Blom; and her stepgranddaughter Bonnie Roth-Clisch (TJ). She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorial donations to the Copper Country Humane Society, the Doelle Senior Citizens in Tapiola, or a charity of their choice.
