He was predeceased by: his parents, David Mayhew and Martha Mayhew (Lucks). He is survived by: his wife Thelma McLane; his daughters, Dawn Mayhew of Rockford, Teresa Mathis (Charles) of Cleveland Heights and Rachelle Mayhew of Marshall; and his grandchildren, Brooke Geddie (James), Martha Holben, Stuart Holben (Kim), Cody McMichael (Tonya), Cameron Mathis (Brittany), Bryton Mathis and Kimberlin Mayhew. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
