He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel King and Myrtle King (Pender); his wife Norma Jean McLane; his grandson Caleb King; his daughter-in-law Shirley King; his siblings, Roy King (Myrtle), Betty King, Geneva Jackson (Walter) and Richard King; and his brother-in-law Raymond McLane (Geraldine).
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Thomas (King) of Flint, Darlene Leever (Tim) of Fayetteville and Fred King of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Jason King (Arlene), Steven King (Stephanie), Destiny Forward (James), Joshua King and Elizabeth Eagan (Chuck); his sisters, Mary Elkins and Ruth Spiller; and his siblings-in-law, Tia King, Henry McLane (Vicki), Pat Parrent and Clara Dobbs. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren.
