He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Allan Filkins and Jean Hamill Filkins; and his daughter Vanessa Filkins of Austin, Texas.. He is survived by: his daughters, Melissa (Gad Krumholz) and Allison (Mark Hagen); his wife Brynda Van Skike of Charlotte; and his brothers, Douglas Filkins (Kathryn) of Westchester and Timothy Filkins (Rhonda) of Elbridge. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given, if desired, to the Navigators, P.O. Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80934 (a Christian ministry) or a charity of one's choice.
