He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Novotny and Frieda Novotny (VanderHagen); his wife Carole Novotny; his son William; and his brother Ed Novotny.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Novotny of Charlevoix, Terri Novotny of Charlevoix, Kim Crandell (Rob) of Charlevoix and Tim Novotny (Sandy) of Charlevoix; his grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Chantel, Garrett, Jake and Zack; and his brother James Novotny of Charlevoix. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
