He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Sr. Sergent and Laura Sergent (Brown); and his brother Frank Sergent. He is survived by: his wife Jean Sergent (Sluyter); his brother James Sergent (Carol); his children, Julie Spenceley (Dennis), Steven Sergent (Iryna) and David Sergent (Tina); and his stepchildren, Richard Schlenker (Kim), Robert Schlenker (Michelle) and Heidi (Jerry).
