He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry J. Shay and Vonda J. Shay (Sanders); his son Ryan Shay; and his sister Barbara Shay. He is survived by: his children, Jodie Kleymeer of Clinton Twp, Joseph "Case" Shay (Ji Yung) of South Korea, Sarah Garcia (Jose) of Austin, TX, Amie Tunstall (Danny) of Austin, TX, Nathan Shay (Elena Searcy) of Newport Beach, CA, Elliott Shay (Ploy) of Lillington, NC and Stephan Shay of Ventura, CA; and his grandchildren, Mikiela "Mika", Adam, Ashley, Max, Sarah, Emile and Sky.
