It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sonia Lapin of Champion, Michigan, born in Ishpeming, Michigan, who passed away on January 18, 2021, at the age of 56, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Jake Niemi; her brother Jack Niemi; her brother-in-law Mike Werth; and her father-in-law Berle LaPin. She is survived by: her mother Eleanore W. Niemi (Heikkila) of Ishpeming; her husband Pete LaPin of Champion; her son Branden LaPin (Shasta Olson) of Champion; her grandchildren, Ava and Cooper LaPin; her stepgrandchildren, Lux and Gatsby; her siblings, Jean Werth of Appleton, WI, Donna Wetts of Appleton, WI, Greg Niemi (Kris) of Kalamazoo, Jason Niemi (Michelle) of Ishpeming, Kurtis Niemi of Ishpeming and Steve Niemi (Jana) of Appleton, WI; her mother-in-law Pat LaPin; her sister-in-law Debra Niemi; and her close friend Michele Irwin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, those attending the visitation must adhere to the wearing of masks and social distancing while at the funeral home.
