She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Binksly and Merle Binksly; and her daughter Judy Masterman. She is survived by: her husband Thomas Rutherford of Cassopolis; her children, Sally Schuur (Steve) of Niles and Hugh Lane of Cassopolis; her stepson Drew Benton Philips of Decatur; and her siblings, James Rutherford (Patricia) of Phillips, John Rutherford (Linda) of Lakeland, Paul Rutherford (Judy) of Vandalia, Mary Brown (Ron) of Niles, Naomi Criswell (Scott) of Cassopolis and Ruth Nauman (Steve) of Goshen, Indiana.. She is also survived by five grandchildren; two great granddaughters.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Sylvia be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 305 West State Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031 or to the family to assist in defraying expenses, in care of Wagner Family Funerals, 208 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
