He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edwin and Velma Louise Mays; and his brothers, William Edwin and Harold Earl Mays. He is survived by: his spouse Namiko Hagiwara; his son Richard Mays Jr. (Mary) of Oakland Tennessee; his brother David Clark Mays (Suzzane) of Cassopolis; his grandchildren, William Mays, Connor Mays, Shirley Mays, Mariah Mays and Vivian Blair; his niece Elizabeth Mays; and his nephew David W. Mays.
