He is survived by: his wife Melva Thayer of Cassopolis; his children, Natalie Thayer (Nathan Walden) of Three Rivers and Nathan Thayer (Kelly) of Cassopolis; his grandson Vander; his mother-in-law Melva DeVries of Gobles; his siblings, Stella "Bonnie" Peabody (David) of Plainwell and T. Mike Lindsey (Noelene) of Gobles; and his daughter Catherina Brandt of Germany. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
