Joann Smithson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joann Smithson of Cass City, Michigan, who passed away on March 26, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Zawilinski and Mary "Marge" Zawilinski (Peters); her husband James Willard Smithson; her daughter Julie Patterson; and her siblings, Jerry Zawilinski and Linda Powell.
She is survived by: her sons, Jim Smithson, Jr. (Deb) of Churubusco, IN and Jeff Smithson (Gretchen Gersonde) of St. Joseph; her grandchildren, Rob Smithson, Megan Patterson and Kelsey Patterson; her brothers, Al Zawilinski (Melojean) of Bay City, John Zawilinski of Bay City and Rick Zawilinski of Berwick, LA; and her brother-in-law Dennis Powell of Cass City. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Calendar Kranz Funeral Home (6850 Main St, Cass City, MI 48726). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
