He was predeceased by: his parents, Levi Jacob and Marion Helwig (Mellendorf); his stepmother Catherine; and his siblings, Wenola Lowe and Maynard Helwig.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Jean Lowe of Cass City; his children, Craig Helwig (Joan) of Cass City, Brian Helwig of Brownsburg, IN and Julie Powers (Dave) of Lansing; his grandchildren, Erik Helwig (Anat Belasen), Travis Helwig (Lena), Kylie Colling (Ty), Callie Buchanan (Zach), Trey Helwig, Kendall Bader (Tyler), Mattie Wiles (Jordan), Lawson Helwig and Chloe Powers; his sisters, Lenora Gingrich and Joyce McArthur; and his caregivers, Heather Pemble and Lindie Vandeberghe. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 25th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 26th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 26th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calendar Kranz Funeral Home - Cass City (6850 Main St, Cass City, MI 48726).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Timberline Lodge, Americans Home Health and Hospice Care or First Baptist Church of Cass City.
