He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Kosal and Blanche Kosal (Koss); his sister Susan; and his parents-in-law, Lyle and June Morley.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice; his daughter Courtney Kosal of Cass City; his pet Gracie; his siblings, Robert Kosal (Mary Kay) of Lapeer, Steve Kosal (Jody) of Harbor Beach, Theresea Davis (Doug) of Harbor Beach and Dawn Osterhaut (Matt) of Fort Gratiot; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Leese (Dale) of Flushing, Carol Zaebst (Wayne) of Metamora, Dave Morley (Deb) of Harbor Beach and Roy Morley of Harbor Beach. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
