She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Leigh and Nellie Leah McKerracher (Weiss); her spouse Verdun Newkirk; and her brothers, Jack and Glen McKerracher.

She is survived by: her children, Gary (Sharon) of Southgate, Lynne of Caseville and Craig (Cheryl) of Indiana. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
