He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Phipps and Arlyle Phipps (Plumb); his grandchildren, Brooke Phipps and Alex Phipps III; and his siblings, Janice Graves, Cheryl Hellar, Gale Phipps and Jerry Phipps.
He is survived by: his wife Deb Phipps; his children, Melissa Stout (Pat Keating) of Cedar Springs, Alex Phipps (Bridgette) of Trufant, Eric Minish of Central Lake and Kevin Phipps of Friendsville, Tennessee.; his stepchildren, Heather Funsch of Owosso, Robbe Cartwright (Sharon) of Owosso and Bryce Cartwright (Jamie) of St. Johns; his grandchildren, Stosha Wagenaar, Megan Wagenaar, Ruby Stout, Ashley Schaefer and Shelby Phipps; his great grandchildren, Maddie, Jared, Kaylynn, Ariana, Nikolas, Coltyn, Owen, Stella, Wyatt, Naomi, Dade and Hadley; his siblings, Delberta Windiate of Traverse City, Ethel Palmer (Rob) of Cedar Springs, Geneva Dean (John) of Sand Lake, Valerie Green of Belding and Craig Phipps (Diane) of Cedar Springs; and his sisters-in-law, Donna Welton (Kurt) of Grandville, Denise VanGessel of Newaygo and Barb Kelch (Richard) of Middleville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
