William H. Sandlin Obituary
William H. Sandlin of Caro, age 70, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Hills & Dales Healthcare in Cass City. Bill was born November 30, 1952 in Detroit. He graduated from Caro High School and was then drafted into the United States Marine Corps.
Bill proudly served his country for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1995. He met the former Kathryn Ann Knoll, they dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 2, 1971 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together they shared forty-five wonderful years and countless memories.
Sadly, Kathy preceded Bill in death on October 16, 2016. Bill was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and watching his favorite TV shows.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory, son and his wife, William and Hope (Ewald) Sandlin; grandchildren, Colton Sandlin and Achilles Herman; sister, Barbara Millerov; mother-in-law, Mary M. (Romzek) Knoll; brothers-in-law, Phillip (Carmen) Knoll, Dominic (Gabriele) Knoll, Bartholomew (Veronica) Knoll, and Christopher (Barbara) Knoll; sister-in-law, Eileen Sandlin; several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danny Sandlin and Jimmy Cross; father-in-law, Chuck Knoll; brother-in-law, Phil Millerov. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro.
Rev. Christopher Coman will officiate with military honors to follow. Bill's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Private inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
