She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Gremel and Esther Gremel (Baur); her husband Vernon Bates (Vern); her sisters, Dorothy Tagleuer (Al) and Betty Kundinger (Karl); her sisters-in-law, Hilda Gremel and Doris Bates; her brother Orville Gremel; and her brothers-in-law, Cliff Bates Jr., Harold Proudfoot and Hank Reis.
She is survived by: her children, Annette Macklin of DeWitt, Timothy Bates (Rebecca) of Caro and James Bates (Michele); her grandchildren, Chad Tomlinson (Amy), Eric Tomlinson, Jodi Stepek (Scot) and Scott Bates (Susan); her great grandchildren, Myles, Elliot and Ian Tomlinson; her grandchildren, Kate, Claire, Jack Tomlinson, Alexandra and Anthony Monacelli; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Adam, Allyson and Luke Stepek; her brother James; and her sisters-in-law, Judy Gremel and Evelyn Reis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
