He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence 'Buck Claypool and Betty Claypool; his sister Delira 'Katty Claypool; and his former wife Rosa Nell Claypool (Herron). He is survived by: his wife Sheila A. Claypool; his sons, Larry Claypool (Joan), Danny Claypool (Karen), Tony Claypool (Patty) and Barry (Alyssa); his stepdaughters, Shannon Stickferd (Darrel) and Stacey Wiedyke; and his siblings, Donald Claypool (Faye), Michael Rigo (Gracie) and Patricia Gray (Bruce). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
