We are sad to announce that on October 2, 2023, at the age of 95, Gertrude E. Schafer of Carleton, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Langton and Victoria Langton (Fix); her husband Robert L. Schafer; her son Dennis Schafer (Patt) of Slidell, Louisiana; and her siblings, Amos (Nellie Wickenheiser), Leona, Margaret Eby (Ernest), Frances Masserant, Irving (Bernice Brancheau), Mary Masserant (Arnold), Joe, Alton (Mary Gaynier), Ann Whitaker, Olive Barron (Charles), Teresa Geiermann (Jerry) and Leonard (Anna Pelton).
She is survived by: her children, Larry Schafer (late Judi) of Carleton, Steve Schafer (Nancy) of Milan, Kathy Schafer (Dennis Earl) of Temperance and Carol Dexter (Ron) of Columbia, Illinois.. She is also survived by her children, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Divine Grace Catholic Church in Carleton or a charity of the donor's choice.
