He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Tracy; his daughter Alyssa; his sister Gina Schmakel (Timothy); his nieces and nephews, Victoria Schmakel and Madison Mattise; and his parents-in-law, Mike and Sherry Duncan.

In lieu of flowers his family has requested donations be made to Angela Hospice.
