He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Okopny and Anabel Okopny; and his sister Janice Okopny. He is survived by: his children, Tiffany Humes (Jeff) and Matt Okopny; his granddaughters, Natasha, Samantha and Adrianna; his brother Warren; and his nephew Austin.

In lieu of flowers his family has requested that donations be made to the Eastern Michigan University Accounting Department.
