He was predeceased by: his mother Catherine; and his sister Florence. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, Brian (Jennifer) and Todd (Christina); his grandchildren, Madeline, Lindsey, Joseph, John Daniel and Antonia; and his sisters, Joan, Bernadine and Nancy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“I first met John when I was 14 years old playing basketball with his sons Brian and Todd. I'll never forget John parking himself in the corner on the baseline very rarely missing a shot. I thought to myself, who is this guy? He never misses! I got to know John through the years through my friendship with Brian. We played many basketball tournaments through the years and John was there to support us. I will miss "Cheddars" as he was always kind and gracious to me. RIP John, You will be missed.”
