He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Constance; and his brother Donald. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Charles Dietzen (Susan), Donald Grupa (Kathleen), Tiffany Bozyk (Keith) and Stephen Grupa; and his grandchildren, Brittany Dietzen, Stacey Kersey, Tonya Trevino, Wyatt Grupa, Kayla Bozyk, Ella Grupa, Maddilyn Grupa, Cameron Bozyk, Thomas Grupa and Natalie Grupa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests mass offerings for James through St. Thomas a'Becket Catholic Church.
