He was predeceased by: his parents, John James and Marie Anne Hand (Sabocik); and his siblings, David Hand and Kathleen Spear. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Hand (Cannon) of Canton, MI; his children, Carrol Hand (Todd Nemanich) of Henrico, Katherine Hand (Christopher Collins) of Maplewood, Medina Atchinson (Craig) of Belleville, MI and Erik Kawadri (Leanne) of Grosse Isle, MI; his grandchildren, Penelope Hand, Ava, Ella Atchinson, Cannon and Luc Kawadri; his siblings, Rev. Dennis Hand of El Salvador, Nancy SeDoris (Donald) of Hobart, Lorraine Lavarnway (Robert) of Lady Lake, Janice LaFrate of Parkersburg, Daniel Hand of The Villages and Patricia Curley (Robert); and his aunts, Elvera Sabocik (late Michael) of DeLand, Ann Sabocik of Hobart and Barbara Reed (late Jim) of Rio Rancho. He is also survived by numerous cousins, colleagues, and friends.
