He is survived by: his wife Deanna; his children, Deborah Scheidel (Steve), Kimberly Westra (Bill) and Michael Mervau (Michele); and his grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Ashley, Shelby, Allison, Peter and Reese. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to West Michigan Humane Society or Holy Family Catholic Church.
