He was predeceased by: his wife Avis V Patterson; his parents, John Max and Mary Mona; and his siblings, Ellen E. Grooters, Maxine Mary, James Gerald and Royal George.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Dawn MacDougall (Graham), Bruce Schantz (Carol), Mark Schantz, Chris Schantz, Jackie Oosterhouse (Mark), Rocky Grooters, Mary Ellen Geelhoed, Pamela Moore (Gregg), Rory Grooters (Karen) and Jeffery Max Patterson (Nancy).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Parish and or Kentwood Fire Department.
